Frequently asked questions
Everything international buyers usually ask before buying a watch from Switzerland through us. Cannot find your answer? Write to us.
Can you buy any watch sold in Switzerland?
In most cases, yes: watches from dealers, online shops, pre-owned specialists, private sellers and auctions. The seller must agree to sell to us and the watch must be legally exportable. Some brand boutiques allocate certain models only to their own clients; we cannot bypass waiting lists.
How much does your service cost?
Our service fee depends on the value and complexity of the purchase and is always shown separately in your written quote, together with the watch price and insured shipping. You know the total before you commit.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer to the Swiss business account of Dr. Import, after you have accepted the quote. You receive an invoice in your name. You never pay the seller directly.
How do I know the watch is genuine?
We inspect every watch against the listing and send you detailed photos and a video before shipping. For pre-owned watches we strongly recommend buying from reputable sellers with box and papers, and we can arrange an independent check by a Swiss watchmaker as an optional service.
Will I have to pay customs duties and taxes?
Usually yes. Your country decides what is due on import (import VAT or sales tax and sometimes customs duty). We tell you in advance whether these are prepaid with the shipment or collected by the courier on delivery.
Do I pay Swiss VAT?
Goods exported from Switzerland are generally not subject to Swiss VAT. How it applies to your purchase depends on the seller, and your quote explains it clearly.
How long does it take?
Quotes are usually sent within one business day. Buying and inspecting typically takes a few days, depending on the seller. Express delivery then takes 1–6 business days depending on your country, plus customs clearance.
Is my watch insured during shipping?
Yes. Every shipment is insured for its full value with the express courier and is tracked from our office to your door, with signature on delivery.
What about the warranty?
New watches from authorised dealers come with the manufacturer's international warranty card, which is generally valid worldwide. Pre-owned watches carry whatever warranty the seller offers. We pass on all documents we receive.
Can I return the watch?
Because we buy a specific watch on your instructions, returns depend on the seller's own policy. If the watch we receive does not match the listing, we tell you before it ships and work with the seller on a solution.
Which countries do you ship to?
We ship to most countries worldwide with DHL Express or other express couriers. We do not ship to destinations subject to Swiss sanctions on luxury goods, such as Russia and Belarus.
Can you service or size the watch before shipping?
Yes. We can have the bracelet adjusted or the watch serviced by a Swiss watchmaker before it ships. Tell us when you request your quote.
Can you bid at a Swiss auction for me?
Yes. We can register with Swiss auction houses and online auctions, bid within the maximum you set, and handle payment, collection and export.
